30 Minute Mongolian Beef

Hey guys!

 

If there’s one thing you know about me by now, it’s that I love tasty but quick meals. Why? Well, I think we all deserve to enjoy the world through our taste buds while also spending our time wisely. I also think that what really makes a meal is the wonderful flavours and the moments worth savouring with those you enjoy your meals with! A few nights ago I made this 30 Minute Mongolian Beef recipe which is an illustration of my “thoughts”. It’s flavourful, delicious, and only takes 30 whole minutes to make! Leaving you with more time to spend with your nearest and dearest.

Prior to this, I had only ever tasted Mongolian Beef at a Chinese, yes, CHINESE restaurant. It didn’t taste so great but with a lot of foods that don’t taste great in a restaurant or takeaway, once you make it yourself and adjust it to your own tastebuds, it usually makes for a memorably scrumptious meal!

Serve this Mongolian Beef with steamed white rice and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef diced or strips
  • 4 Garlic Cloves finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 2/3 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Flour or Cornstarch
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil for frying
  • 1 bunch Spring Onions

Instructions

In a plastic container, toss the flour and beef together until the beef is well coated. Set aside.

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large deep pan. Once heated, add the ginger and garlic. Fry for a minute then stir in soy sauce, water and brown sugar. Leave to simmer on low to medium heat  for 3 to 5 minutes until well combined. Set aside.

In another deep pan, heat the rest of the oil. Once hot add the beef and allow it to fry for 2-4 minutes until brown on each side. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel in order for it to absorb any excess oil.

Place beef in the sauce and let it simmer for 3-6 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.

Serve with steamed white rice or stir fried noodles. Garnish with the spring onions and enjoy!
